"We have not succeeded in answering all our problems.
The answers we have found only serve to raise a whole set
of new questions. In some ways we feel we are as confused
as ever, but we believe we are confused on a higher level
and about more important things."

[citation from Bernt Øksendal's "Stochastic Differential Equations", Springer-Verlag (2007)]

"The most terrifying fact about the universe is not that
it is hostile but that it is indifferent, but if we can come to terms with
this indifference, then our existence as a species can have genuine meaning.
However vast the darkness, we must suppply our own light."

Stanley Kubrick

The men pass the ideas remain. Their moral tensions remain and will continue to walk on the legs of other men.
Giovanni Falcone

Richard M. Stallman, Linus Torvalds, and Donald E. Knuth
engage in a discussion on whose impact
on the computerized world was the greatest.
Stallman: "God told me I have programmed
the best editor in the world!"
Torvalds: "Well, God told *me* that I have programmed
the best operating system in the world!"
Knuth: "Wait, wait - I never said that."

Current Activities and Research Interests

I am Lecturer in Statistics at the Department of Mathematical Sciences of the University of Durham, UK.
My researches are mainly devoted to the mathematical/statistical modelization of dynamical systems, especially through diffusion processes expressed by stochastic differential equations (SDEs). Applied work focuses on mathematical modelling of biomedical issues (particularly the glucose-insulin system). My current research topics are: SDEs numerical simulation; parameter estimation; transition density estimation techniques; mixed-effects models defined by SDEs.

My SDE Package for MATLAB

SDE Toolbox - Simulation And Estimation Of Stochastic Differential Equations with MATLAB.
This MATLAB package allows to simulate sample paths of a user defined Itô or Stratonovich SDE, estimate parameters and obtain descriptive statistics of the underlying stochastic process; users can also simulate an SDE chosen from a models library.

More MATLAB contributions available here.
