| This was another display that became visible as soon as it was dark enough; striations were immediately visible around Capella and further to the east so, after quickly phoning everyone I knew would be interested, I scrambled to the place from which I viewed the noctilucent clouds a week previously. |
| In horizontal extent the display was of almost identical proportions as the week before but brighter at its peak intensity. |
| It initially rose to a higher altitude than that of the 20th-21st. Seen here at ten to midnight (BST) it rises a good few degrees above the bright star Capella. |
| Compared to the 20th to 21st the display was perhaps a little more chaotic but with similar undulations. Detail is shown in these zoom shots, below. |
| At one point I was joined by a man who'd come to photograph the cathedral and didn't know anything about the noctilucent clouds! I made sure he got some shots with them in as he'd have kicked himself had he found out the next day what had happened. | |
| Toward the end of the display (which faded out as dawn encroached) it strengthened somewhat in the NW-NNW. |
