27th to 28th June 2007

This was another display that became visible as soon as it was dark enough; striations were immediately visible around Capella and further to the east so, after quickly phoning everyone I knew would be interested, I scrambled to the place from which I viewed the noctilucent clouds a week previously.

In horizontal extent the display was of almost identical proportions as the week before but brighter at its peak intensity.
It initially rose to a higher altitude than that of the 20th-21st. Seen here at ten to midnight (BST) it rises a good few degrees above the bright star Capella.
Compared to the 20th to 21st the display was perhaps a little more chaotic but with similar undulations. Detail is shown in these zoom shots, below.
At one point I was joined by a man who'd come to photograph the cathedral and didn't know anything about the noctilucent clouds! I made sure he got some shots with them in as he'd have kicked himself had he found out the next day what had happened.
Toward the end of the display (which faded out as dawn encroached) it strengthened somewhat in the NW-NNW.
To finish off here is another smaller pano.
