I am an Assistant Professor in Statistics at Durham University - my research focuses on the use of emulation and history matching to robustly examine and explore complex mathematical models (particularly epidemic models). Much of my work has been in conjunction with Ian Vernon, Michael Goldstein, and members of the TB Modelling Group at London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine. In particular, I have developed an R package hmer to aid epidemiologists and modellers in analysing and matching to their complex models, which leverages Bayes Linear Emulation and all the neat tricks therein.
Prior to my work in statistics, I worked as a Teaching Fellow at Durham and Leeds, with a heavy focus on developing e-assessments for undergraduate courses.
Any general queries can be directed to my Durham email address, especially if you have an interesting model that you're struggling to calibrate...
Queries about hmer are best directed towards the Github repo, either as a logged issue (for problems/suggestions) or a pull request (if you've got some cool functionality you want to add).
Outside of my research, I have an interest in climbing, especially bouldering; I have been an avid knitter for nearly a decade (and can highly recommend it as a PhD-stress relieving hobby!); I enjoy exploring new and weird technology, particularly as it pertains to coding; and regularly struggle with The Listener and the Times Cryptic crossword in my quest for cruciverbal superiority.
