The LMS EPSRC Durham Research Symposia began in 1974, and have now become an established and recognised series of international research meetings, having just celebrated its 100th symposium. They provide an excellent opportunity to explore an area of research in depth, to learn of new developments, and to instigate links between different branches. The format is designed to allow substantial time for interaction and research. The meetings are by invitation only and held in July and August, usually lasting for 10 days, with up to 70 participants, roughly half of whom will come from the UK. Lectures and seminars take place in the Department of Mathematical Sciences, University of Durham, and participants are housed in ensuite accommodation at nearby Grey College.
Details about how to make a proposal can be accessed directly from the LMS. The EPSRC is the main funder of the symposia.
Below is a list of the meetings (in reverse order) which includes the webpage(s), movies page, conference photograph and key, list of participants and an idea of the programme where available.
