WPMSIIP 2016

9th Workshop on Principles and Methods of Statistical Inference with Interval Probability – Durham, 2-6 September 2016

Home

The workshop runs from Friday 2 September until Tuesday 6 September 2016, taking place in room CM107 of the Mathematical Sciences department of Durham University. It immediately follows the SIPTA Summer School on Imprecise Probabilities which will take place in Durham from 29 August until 2 September.

Aim & Topics

The major aim of the workshop is to stimulate discussion of ongoing research, providing a platform to discuss unsolved problems and to address unanswered questions, all related to interval probability (also called imprecise probability). This theory generalizes classical probability theory, by quantifying uncertainty via lower and upper probabilities. This provides exciting opportunities and challenges for development of theory and methods for statistical inference and decision support, which will be the main focus of activities in this workshop. For more information, see the webpages of the Society for Imprecise Probability: Theories and Applications.

The Friday overlaps with the SIPTA summer school and will be a day of research discussions aimed at a general audience. Each of the other four days will be focused on a specific topic and is organised independently by experts in the respective fields of research. Currently proposed topics are:

Please feel free to contact session organisers directly if you would like to know more about their plans for the session or if you would like to contribute to it.

Organisation & Registration

There is no registration fee.

Everyone, including PhD students, is welcome to participate and/or to present their views on one or more of the above topics, on one or more days! If you want to join the workshop, or if you have any general questions about the workshop, please send an email to either one of the organisers:

or to the appropriate session organizer, with a brief explanation of your intended contribution, preferably before Friday July 29th 2016.
