European Study Group with Industry

12 to 16 April 2021        Department of Mathematical Sciences

This project has received funding from the European Union’s Horizon 2020 research and innovation programme under the Marie Skłodowska-Curie grant agreement No. 764850 (SAGEX).

Concept

The aim of the study groups is to allow industrial partners to present one of their problems and ask a group of mathematicians, statisticians, and probabilists to work on these problems for a week.

While full solutions are not always found in such a short time, the study group always makes very good progress towards finding a solution, often leading to further collaborations between the parties involved.

The study group is an ideal forum in which to have a brain-storming session involving mathematicians with wide ranges of expertise and who can cast fresh eyes on problems completely new to them.

The outcome of the study group is delivered through a presentation on the last day, followed by a written report for each problem a few weeks after the event.
